Chicago Blows [Oct. 16th, 2005|12:54 am]
Working In Chicago
[music |The Ramones - Pet Sematary]

The Windy City, she sure can blow sometimes. Vent your frustrations at the Chicago Blows community. People piss me off on a daily basis, but why piss yet more people off complaining about it? Better to post someplace where someone might relate, rather than talking the ear off the poor schmuck you cornered at the local pub.

I'm (pegboypegboy) known as something of a nazi-asshole when it comes to LJ and such, but I have only one rule for this community.

No posting stupid playbills for when your band is playing or when the next stupid-ass dance party is going to be at a club nobody goes to (nobody I give shit about anyway).

Outside of that, anything goes. Feel free to post about how much you hate me, tourists, your ex-girlfriend, that hobo who stunk up the redline the other day, or even how much Fallout Boy sucks. Whatever.

Join here.

Working In Chicago

My friend and I are renting a 3 bedroom apartment in Wicker Park. Both of us are female, and do not have a sexual preference of our third roomate. The apartment has lovely hardwood floors, near public trans, and is located above a business, which is great for security. It really is a wonderful apartment, and the rent is only 282 per person, not including utilities.

Have dog, will travel. [Sep. 22nd, 2005|01:13 pm]
Working In Chicago

I'm yet again looking for a new place to live. Turns out the place I'm at now, that I thought was so great, well...isn't. So here's a few details. I have a small poodle. She can be a bit hyper at times, but overall she's sweet. I'd prefer something in the Palatine area so I'm close to school and not too far from work. Cable internet preferred, wifi ideal! I'd like to rent space out of a condo or house so my dog can have a place to run. I'm not made of moolah, as most of us aren't so rent would need to be $4-500 a month including utilities. Anyone who can help me out here would be greatly appreciated! I'm already looking on craigslist and roommates.com, but I wanted to try here too. Thanks!

Eat organic and/or help Hurricane Katrina survivors [Sep. 7th, 2005|12:30 am]
Working In Chicago
Bubamara Pizza is collecting donations for survivors of hurricane Katrina. For the next couple of months, if you order a pizza (honestly the best in town, btw) or other (organic!) meal for delivery, the driver will collect your donation of clothes, toiletries, small toys for children, pet supplies, etc. - whatever you can contribute.

The owner told me about it over the phone when I ordered tonight. The driver was a bit surly and less than cooperative but when I called back to tell the owner he didn't want to take the donation, the owner assured me he is committed to doing this to help people in the southern states. You can also just drop off donations yourself at Bubamara Pizza, 4607 N Wolcott, Chicago, IL after 5 p.m.

Again, this will be going on for the next couple of months since, as he put it, these people will need help for a long time, not just in the next couple of days. If you have questions, call him up and ask him at 773-334-2633. I don't work there or know him personally; I just said I'd help spread the word. If you live in Chicago or know people who do, please pass on the info. Thanks.

Sorry if this isn't allowed; feel free to delete.

Working In Chicago

I think I am about to become a Chicagoan (well Auroran or around there).

How many of you take the train daily or fairly regularly?  What are your impressions of the service and employees?  And if you have any interesting experiences (good or bad), share them.  I know this is a long shot, but I'd like to meet anyone who might work for Metra (especially on-board crews), too.

Working In Chicago

So, I forgot about this community! It was on an old journal of mine. Whoops.

Anyway... hi! I'm Katy, I'm the mod and I've been neglecting you all horribly.

But, I'm back now.

Quick question... is EVERYONE in Chicago being a rude prick today? Im stuck working the phones and it seems like everyone is being an ass.

Working In Chicago

Two of my friends are planning on moving to Chicago area ASAP and they need to find a place to stay. They're looking for a 2 bedroom apartment for around $600 or so. They're also both in desprate need of jobs, they're both 20 year old guys, one of them finished High School, the other one didn't. Any jobs they could get would be great, does anyone know of any fast food places or anything in the area that is hiring?
